Job description

Navigate is hiring a Vice President of People and Culture. This is an exciting opportunity for a strategic hands-on human resources leader to refine and scale the HR strategy and operations for Navigate Wellbeing, a fast-growing digital health engagement Software as a Service (SaaS) technology company headquartered in Des Moines, IA.

The VP of People & Culture will be a strategic leader and problem-solver, who has a strong perspective on building a world-class employee experience. This HR leader is someone who enjoys owning a wide breadth of tasks and enjoys being at the forefront of building a purpose-driven, people-first culture.

The VP of People & Culture will lead and oversee employee engagement, talent acquisition, employee development, DEI, culture, and all things people-related. In this role, you will report directly to the CEO, play a strategic role on our senior leadership team, and collaborate with managers and employees across the business.

You will be responsible for setting the overall people strategy and make a tremendous impact on the organization. Our ideal candidate has led rapid growth and is experienced in scaling teams from 50 to 200+ employees, is comfortable creating systems and processes, and is highly competent in best practices across the entire employee journey.

Key responsibilities

Business Partnership

  • Serve as a strategic partner to the leadership team providing direction and counsel on talent and people operations
  • Partner closely with CEO to manage workforce planning and staff overhead budgets
  • Develop and execute HR initiatives to support the organization’s business objectives
  • Provide HR support as needed to employees of all levels across the organization
  • Reinforce our company values and refine how we incorporate them into our day-to-day business operations and interactions
  • Serve as a brand and culture ambassador

Culture and Team Development

  • Grow team member skills actively through skill-building and professional development
  • Develop and drive best practices to promote a positive and collaborative HR experience throughout the organization
  • Continuously identify and develop opportunities to increase employee engagement and connections
  • Promote a merit-based culture where team members seek growth opportunities
  • Develop and manage the company’s corporate events including Town Halls, All-Hands, and Fireside Chats to keep employees connected and up-to-date on business initiatives
  • Develop and implement our remote and hybrid workplace strategy

Employee Lifecycle

  • Refine and oversee full cycle recruiting process
  • Strategize with hiring managers regarding position requirements
  • Develop job descriptions and postings
  • Partner with external recruiters
  • Conduct interviews as needed
  • Develop and standardize new hire orientation
  • Ensure that all dismissals or redundancies are conducted in compliance with local laws and statutory guidelines

HR Policies and Procedures

  • Ensure compliance with all local and federal laws and guidelines and minimize legal risk to the company
  • Identify opportunities to improve HR processes/procedures and increase efficiencies across regions
  • Develop and maintain employee playbooks and documents to stay current with new employment laws and address any new company policies
  • Ensure employee grievances are managed in compliance with statutory guidelines

Talent Management

  • Refine, standardize, and execute performance management processes throughout the organization
  • Coach managers on performance management best practices
  • Assist managers to identify employees’ training needs and career development paths and recommend appropriate resources or resolutions
  • Assist managers with disciplinary and dismissal procedures as needed in accordance with local laws and statutory requirements
  • Drive annual talent mapping and workforce planning
  • Oversee the development and execution of professional development programs
  • Develop internal training content as well as partner with external resources as needed
  • Develop DEI and multicultural programming

Systems and Information

  • Develop and implement KPIs measuring employee engagement, tenure, recruiting efficiency, onboarding experience, compliance, and professional development
  • Develop annual NPS survey for employee satisfaction

Compensation and Benefits

  • Collaborate with CEO on benefits administration
  • Manage total rewards strategy
  • Manage annual salary review process
  • Manage annual bonus planning process

Experience required

  • 5-7 years experience in an HR generalist capacity
  • 3-5 years in an HR management or leadership role
  • Track record of building and managing a distributed hybrid workforce
  • Knowledge of HR process best practices and US labor law
  • Experience leading HR at a tech company, SaaS is a plus
  • Experience developing a remote, hybrid work culture
  • Experience scaling HR policies, processes, and systems at a high-growth company
  • Certifications/License(s): SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP), Sr. Professional in Human Resources (SPHR)

Physical & working environment
